What is Pain?
We all experience pain from time to time. Pain is often defined in two ways -
Acute Pain: Acute pain occurs suddenly and alerts the body like a warning
signal that something may be wrong. In general, acute pain almost always
has a medical solution.
Chronic Pain: Chronic pain can persist for a long period of time. It may be
the result of an injury or illness, or it may begin with a patient not recalling
any injury. Chronic pain can interrupt every day life to a small or large
degree. Sleep, sex, family, social and emotional life can all be affected.
Treating chronic pain may require long-term treatment and care.
Chronic pain is often complex and cannot always be managed by a single
means. A professional physician who specializes in chronic pain can help
you reach your goals of treating and relieving chronic pain from your life.
